Financial Aid is applied for annually using either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for Student Financial Aid (TASFA). The applications typically open October 1st for the next academic year. Priority Deadlines for completion are listed here.
- Students attending the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and/or Summer 2025 term(s) should submit the 2023-2024 FAFSA or TASFA.
Students attending a Summer term will also need to complete the Summer Interest Form. Please see Summer Financial Aid for details.
Please see the following for additional information regarding the financial aid application process:
- Confirm you meet meet eligibility criteria.
- If you do not already have an FSA ID, go to the following Department of Education website to create an FSA ID (recommended at least three days before filling out the FAFSA): Create Account | Federal Student Aid
- Assist your contributors, such as your parent(s) or spouse, in creating or confirming their FSA ID via Create Account | Federal Student Aid .
- Gather important documents for completing the 2024-2025 FAFSA.
- Fill out the FAFSA online. UNT's school code is 003594.
- Monitor the email address you used to complete the FAFSA for an email notice from the Department of Education with instructions on how to access an online copy of your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS).
- Monitor your UNT email address, EagleConnect, for notification that we have received your FAFSA and next steps.
- Check Your To-Do List located in the UNT Student Portal for items related to your 2024-2025 FAFSA.
