Competitive Scholarship Waiver

Non-Texas residents in receipt of a UNT competitive scholarship of at least $1,000 for the academic year may be eligible to pay in-state Texas resident tuition for the fall, spring, and the following summer terms.

To be eligible, a student must:

Be in receipt of a competitively awarded UNT scholarship of at least $1,000 as defined by Texas Administrative Code 13.478 and UNT policy
Meet Selective Service requirements
Enroll at UNT in a degree seeking program
As of Spring 2026, be lawfully present in the United States (see Texas Administrative Code Rule 13.465)

Eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid & Scholarships office based on documentation provided by the awarding department, in compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, and in adherence to institutional policy and procedures.
