Financial Aid is applied for annually using either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for Student Financial Aid (TASFA).  Priority Deadlines for completion are listed here.

  • Students attending the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and/or Summer 2025 term(s) should submit the 2024-2025 FAFSA (or TASFA).  Students attending (or planning to attend) these terms should submit their 2024-2025 financial aid application as soon as possible if they have not done so already.
  • Students attending the Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and/or Summer 2026 term(s) should submit the 2025-2026 FAFSA (or TASFA).  The 2025-2026 FAFSA is scheduled to be released by December 1, 2024.  Please see the following webpage for additional details:  2025–26 FAFSA® Form Coming Soon | Federal Student Aid

Students attending a Summer term will also need to complete the Summer Interest Form.  Please see  Summer Financial Aid for details.

Completing the 2025-2026 FAFSA

Completing the TASFA

Please see TASFA | University of North Texas for information regarding the TASFA, the application process, and a link to the 2024-2025 TASFA Forms.  The TASFA is for students who are residents of Texas and are not eligible to complete the FAFSA.    

The 2025-2026 TASFA form is scheduled to be released on (or before) December 1, 2024.  Once available, the 2025-2026 TASFA will be published on the following website: TASFA | University of North Texas

  • Be aware that the number of hours you transfer in could impact your maximum hour limit for Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Cancel all pending financial aid offers/awards at your other school(s).
  • Make payment arrangements through Student Accounting at UNT since your financial aid awards may not be ready by the payment deadlines.
