Admitted transfer students are evaluated for one of our UNT Texas Transfer Scholarship programs based on completed admission and scholarship applications.

Priority Dates

The General ScholarshipA scholarship is a form of financial aid given to students to help pay for their education. Most scholarships are restricted to paying all or part of tuition expenses, though some scholarships also cover room and board. Scholarships are a form of gift aid and do not have to be repaid. Many scholarships are restricted to students in specific courses of study or with academic, athletic, or artistic talent. Application must be completed by June 15.

Applicants who meet the priority admission application date of March 1 will be given first consideration for scholarships, based on their completed admission application.

Submit the ApplyTexas Application by March 1 to ensure that all previous college transcripts are current with UNT by June 15.   ApplyTexas Applications received after March 1 may not be complete in time for eligibility to be confirmed for the General Scholarship Application.  Specific questions regarding your admission application should be directed to Undergraduate Admissions.

Description

UNT Texas Transfer Scholarships are available for students transferring from a Texas community college or an accredited Texas university with a minimum of 45 attempted credit hours but less than 120 hours. Attempted hours exclude credit hours earned from AP, CLEP, military, etc.

Students must be active in a UNT program to receive this award.  Students active in a UNT Dallas program should contact UNT Dallas for scholarship opportunites.

The scholarship is renewable one additional, consecutive academic yearThe period during which school is in session, consisting of at least 30 weeks of instructional time. The school year typically runs from the beginning of September through the end of May at most colleges and universities. (excluding summer), or until the completion of your UNT undergraduate degree, whichever comes first.

Amount

Many scholarships are restricted to students in specific courses of study or with academic, athletic, or artistic talent. amounts offered, which are based on your cumulative grade point averageThe GPA is an average of a student's grades. Grades have been converted to a 4.0 scale, with 4.0 being an A, 3.0 being a B, and 2.0 being a C.:

  • 4.0 cumulative GPA:  $3,000 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $6,000 total award.)
  • 3.99-3.75 cumulative GPA:  $2,000 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $4,000 total award.)
  • 3.74-3.5 cumulative GPA:  $1,500 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $3,000 total award.)

Eligibility

Awards are renewable for a second year for students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per fall and spring term at UNT, and maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA while completing his or her UNT undergraduate degree.
