No application is necessary. All eligible students are identified through their completed Admissions file. Please ensure all transcripts and test scores are updated in Admissions as soon as possible.
Priority Dates
There is no deadline. Apply early for admission. Priority consideration will be given to the earliest applications due to limited funding.
Description
These scholarships are for outstanding entering freshmen who rank in the top 10% of their high school graduating class and who score at least a 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT (Written test portion excluded).
Students must be active in a UNT program to receive this award. Students active in a UNT Dallas program should contact UNT Dallas for scholarship opportunites.
There are four types of Regents scholarships: Board of Regents Excellence; Board of Regents; Board of Regents Chancellor's; and Board of Regents President's.
The scholarship is renewable up to three additional, consecutive academic years (excluding summers), or until the completion of your UNT undergraduate degree, whichever comes first.
Amount
- Board of Regents Excellence: $7,000 per year (ScholarshipA scholarship is a form of financial aid given to students to help pay for their education. Most scholarships are restricted to paying all or part of tuition expenses, though some scholarships also cover room and board. Scholarships are a form of gift aid and do not have to be repaid. Many scholarships are restricted to students in specific courses of study or with academic, athletic, or artistic talent. funding can result in a $28,000 total award.)
- Board of Regents: $6,000 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $24,000 total award.)
- Board of Regents Chancellor's: $5,000 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $20,000 total award.)
- Board of Regents President's: $5,000 per year (Scholarship funding can result in a $20,000 total award.)
Eligibility
Here are the test scores you must have to be eligible:
- Board of Regents Excellence: You must have at least a 1400 on the SAT or 32 on the ACT.
- Board of Regents: You must have SAT scores from 1300-1390 or ACT scores from 29-31.
- Board of Regents Chancellor's: You must have SAT scores from 1250-1290 or an ACT of 28.
- Board of Regents President's: You must have SAT scores from 1200-1240 or ACT 27.
To continue receiving these scholarships each year, you must meet the following renewal criteria:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
- Enroll in and successfully complete at least twelve semester hours of coursework in a UNT program during each long semester (Fall and Spring) you receive the scholarship.
