This is a need-basedFinancial aid that is need-based depends on your financial situation. Most government sources of financial aid are need-based. grantA grant is a type of financial aid based on financial need that the student does not have to repay. for undergraduate students.  The grant doesn't have to be repaid.   However, if you withdraw from the university or stop attending classes, you may be subject to the university's repayment policy.


The UNT maximum award is $1,000 per academic yearThe period during which school is in session, consisting of at least 30 weeks of instructional time. The school year typically runs from the beginning of September through the end of May at most colleges and universities..  Based on established financial needThe difference between the COA and the EFC is the student's financial need - the gap between the cost of attending the school and the student's resources. The financial aid package is based on the amount of financial need. The process of determining a student's need is known as need analysis. and availability of funds.


This grantA grant is a type of financial aid based on financial need that the student does not have to repay. is awarded to students with the lowest Expected Family Contributions who are also Pell eligible.  Half-timeDuring each term, 6-8 credit hours is considered half-time for undergraduate students. For graduate students, 5 hours is considered half-time., enrollment required. Satisfactory Academic ProgressA student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to continue to receive financial aid. Students must maintain a certain qualitative standard (i.e. cumulative GPA) in addition to maintaining a quantitative standard (i.e. successfully completing a required number of credit hours). Students must also complete their degree or certificate program within a maximum timeframe, which may vary according to the student’s status and program. If a student does not maintain the required standards, the student may lose their financial aid eligibility. Requirements must be met.  This grant is awarded to undergraduates only.

If you are no longer eligible to receive the Federal Pell grantThe Pell grant is a federal grant that provides funds based on the student's financial need. due to having exceeded the Pell  grant lifetime eligibility limit you will also no longer be eligible to receive the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG).


Money is disbursed to the student's account once each semester.
